Samuel Olliver trading as TechPhobe is the data controller for anything you send through this site.
- Enquiries. Your name, reply details and message. I use them to reply and to do any work you ask for. The spam check on forms is run by Cloudflare. Lawful basis: replying to your enquiry and doing the work you ask for (contract, or the steps before one).
- Updates and free tools. If you ask for updates, your email address, used only to tell you when a new tool or guide is out. Lawful basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Referrals. I don't collect the details of anyone you refer. They contact me themselves. If you tell me who sent you, I keep that name with your enquiry so I can thank them. If you sign up to refer, I keep your name, business, phone and email to send your thank-you payment. Lawful basis: the agreement between you and me to pay you. Kept for 24 months from the last referral.
- Your accountant. If your accountant or bookkeeper sent you and you say yes, I send them a one-page note of what was set up. Nothing goes to them without your yes. Lawful basis: your consent.
- Course evenings. Each group evening is recorded for the people in that group only, so anyone who misses one can catch up. It is deleted 30 days after the last evening. Lawful basis: my legitimate interest in that catch-up. You can keep your camera off.
- Who sees it. 123-reg (GoDaddy), which hosts this website and my mailbox; Cloudflare, which runs the spam check on forms and forwards email sent to samo@techphobe.com; WhatsApp (Meta), if you message me there. Nobody else, and your details are never sold.
- Outside the UK. Cloudflare is based in the United States and uses the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, the contract terms approved for the UK. WhatsApp serves UK users from Ireland, and the UK treats the EU and EEA as adequate. Where 123-reg keeps data in the EU or EEA, the same UK adequacy rules cover it.
- Tracking. No advertising cookies and no Google Analytics. Only the cookies the site needs to run.
- How long. Enquiry and email records are kept for 24 months from your last contact, or less if you ask. If you become a customer, invoices and payment records are kept for as long as tax law requires, then deleted.
- Your rights. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to limit how I use it, or to get a copy to take elsewhere. You can also object to how I use it, and withdraw consent for updates whenever you like.
- Complaints. If you're unhappy with how I handle your data, tell me first at samo@techphobe.com. I'll acknowledge it within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information Commission at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
