Questions
Questions owners ask
Who owns the domain?
You do. It's registered to you, and at handover you get its login. Websites
Can I use my own photos?
Yes, and they work better than stock photos. Phone photos of finished jobs are fine; I'll tell you which ones work best.
Can I move my website if I leave?
Yes. If TechPhobe hosts it and you leave, I move it to a hosting account in your name, or give you a full copy, at no charge. Hosting and care
Do I need a website if I have Facebook?
Facebook is fine for photos of your work. A website is where someone who found you on Google checks you're real and asks for a price, on a page you own. Websites
How do I get more Google reviews?
Ask every customer when the job is done, with a one-tap link, not weeks later. A QR card in the van helps. Google's rules don't allow offering anything in return or asking only the happy ones. Review requests are set up from £150, or make your own link with the free review link tool.
Why won't my customers leave reviews?
Often because it's a faff, not because they don't want to. Ask at the right moment and hand them a one-tap link or QR code, and most happy customers will.
Why do missed calls cost so much?
Because a caller who can't get through often rings the next firm instead, and you never find out. Even a few a week adds up over a year, which is what the missed call calculator shows.
Can I send quotes and invoices from my phone?
Yes. With job software set up, you build the quote on site from your own price list, check it and send it. The invoice goes from the same job when it's done. Job software set-up
How do I stop chasing unpaid invoices?
Send the invoice the day the job's done, with a clear due date. Then your job software sends a polite reminder after the number of days you choose, and stops when they pay. That reminder is one of the agreed messages in a job software set-up. Admin and automation
What software do I need for Making Tax Digital?
Most job software can send invoices to MTD-ready accounting software like Xero or QuickBooks. Which one suits you is your accountant's call. When it starts for you
